Addison’s Adventures, Appetite, and Asleeping… or Lack There Of

We last posted just before making the journey to Columbia, SC for cousin Avery’s 4th Birthday party.  Addison handled the journey there like a pro, sleeping the whole two hours.  Once we arrived she fed a bit with Amanda before we joined the party and spent some time with family.

Avery’s birthday party was Luau themed… Addison had a flower print skirt on that spent most of the day hiked up around her chest, because skirts don’t work well on babies.

After spending the afternoon with family, somebody needed a nap.

Sunday, Nanny and Papa Lyle watched Addison while Mom and Dad walked to Biscuit Head and grabbed brunch.

Addison has been cluster feeding at night lately.  We give her a feeding, she zonks out for about 10 minutes and then emerges frustratingly rooting around.

I think we are officially done with swaddles, sleep sacks are preferred by this little lady.

We are very happy to report that Addison, at 3 weeks old, is up to 7 lbs , 9.5 ounces, 6 ounces over her birth weight.  She is also one of the best behaved babies in Mommy’s support group at her pediatrician.  For anyone having a baby in the Greenville area, we cannot recommend Parkside Pediatrics enough, their lactation specialists, support group, and presence at hospitals has been a blessing.

There seems to be a pattern forming… After a week where we made some progress in getting Addison to sleep in her bassinet, she seems to have back tracked a bit this weekend, struggling whenever she is in her bassinet and quickly snuggling up and sleeping with Daddy in his recliner.

As frustrating as it is not to wake up in our bed, I just love waking up to this peaceful little image.

Saturday of this week we walked to zoo with Addison for the first time.

Nanny and Papa came along for the fun, and afterwards Google showed off how clever their engineers are.

And I just think Amanda looked super cute in this muslin swaddle she wore to cover up Addison and keep her out of the sun.
